Ford F-150 Windshield Replacement & ADAS Calibration

The F-150 Has More ADAS Than Most Truck Owners Realize

If you drive a 2018 or newer Ford F-150, your truck likely has Co-Pilot360 — Ford’s suite of driver assistance features that includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. All of the forward-facing features run through a camera mounted behind your windshield.

Here’s what catches most F-150 owners off guard: you can get your windshield replaced at any glass shop, but if they don’t calibrate the camera afterward, your pre-collision assist might not brake in time, your lane keeping might pull in the wrong direction, and your adaptive cruise might misjudge the gap to the car ahead. The truck won’t warn you — everything appears to work normally.

At Nex Automotive in Rocklin, we replace F-150 windshields and calibrate Co-Pilot360 in the same visit. We see more F-150s than any other truck — it’s the most popular vehicle in America and the most common truck in the Sacramento region.

F-150 Model Years and ADAS Differences

  • 2018-2020 F-150 (13th gen) — Co-Pilot360 available as an option package. Pre-collision assist, lane keeping, auto high beams, BLIS with cross-traffic alert. Forward camera behind mirror requires static calibration after windshield replacement.
  • 2021-2023 F-150 (14th gen) — Co-Pilot360 standard on most trims (XLT and up). Added BlueCruise capability on Lariat and above (subscription required). The 14th gen camera has higher resolution and tighter calibration tolerances than the 13th gen.
  • 2024+ F-150 — Updated Co-Pilot360 2.0 with improved lane centering. Same camera location, updated calibration procedures. BlueCruise hands-free driving available on equipped trims.
  • F-150 Lightning (2022+) — Electric. Full Co-Pilot360 with BlueCruise on most trims. Same camera system as the gas F-150, same calibration requirements.
  • F-150 Raptor / Raptor R — Same Co-Pilot360 system as other F-150 trims. The lifted suspension doesn’t affect calibration procedure — our equipment accounts for different ride heights.

Lift Kits, Leveling Kits, and Calibration

This is specific to trucks and we see it constantly. If you’ve installed a leveling kit, lift kit, or larger tires on your F-150, your camera angle has changed from factory spec. When we calibrate after a windshield replacement, we calibrate to your truck’s current ride height — not the factory height.

This matters because a lot of shops calibrate using factory specifications without accounting for modifications. If your F-150 is running a 2″ level and 33″ tires, the camera angle is different than stock. We verify and adjust for this.

OEM vs. OE-Equivalent Glass for the F-150

We use OEM and OE-equivalent glass matched to your F-150’s exact specifications. The F-150 windshield is large — one of the biggest on any passenger vehicle — which means glass quality matters more. Any distortion in a windshield that big gets amplified across the field of view.

Insurance companies often cover OE-equivalent glass. When your truck requires ADAS calibration after replacement, you may have more say in going OEM — because the camera needs glass that meets the original optical specifications.

One F-150-specific note: heated windshields are available on some trims (Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum). If your truck has a heated windshield, we source replacement glass with matching heating elements.

Dealer vs. Nex Automotive

Ford dealers charge $900-1,600+ for F-150 windshield replacement with Co-Pilot360 calibration. Wait times are typically 3-7 days, and you’re leaving your truck at the dealer all day.

At Nex Automotive: $400-800 depending on trim and glass choice. Same-day service — drop off in the morning, pick up by afternoon. We see F-150s every week, so there’s no learning curve.

Insurance Coverage

California comprehensive coverage covers F-150 windshield replacement at zero deductible. We file the claim and include ADAS calibration. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 is well-documented by insurers — there’s rarely pushback on calibration coverage for F-150s.

Frequently Asked Questions

My F-150 doesn’t have the Co-Pilot360 package. Do I still need calibration?

If your F-150 is a base XL without Co-Pilot360, it may not have the forward camera. No camera = no calibration needed. We check before we start — if there’s no camera behind your mirror, you just need a standard windshield replacement.

I have a leveling kit on my F-150. Does that affect calibration?

Yes — we calibrate to your truck’s actual ride height, not factory spec. If you have a 2″ level or larger tires, we account for that in the calibration process.

Does the F-150 Lightning need different calibration than the gas F-150?

Same camera system, same calibration. The electric drivetrain is irrelevant to the windshield camera.

How long does F-150 windshield replacement take?

2-3 hours for windshield replacement plus Co-Pilot360 calibration. Same-day service available.

Can you do mobile windshield replacement on my F-150?

We offer mobile windshield replacement for F-150s across the Sacramento region. ADAS calibration requires our in-shop equipment, so you’d bring the truck to our Rocklin shop for that step. Or we can do everything at the shop in one visit.
